Youth Regional

 

Squad Criteria

  • Be committed to the squad ethos of hard work, self-discipline and a positive attitude.

  • Be aspirational about their swimming.

  • Attend a minimum of 7 training sessions each week, to include at least 1 early morning session, 1 weekend session including land training and 3 weekday evening sessions.

  • Attend a minimum of 5 training sessions (including land training element) during holiday periods.

  • Be able to complete the standard test sets of 24 x 100m medley on 1.45 swim and rest, 10 x 200m free on 3.30 swim and rest and 4 x 400m free on 6min swim and rest with good technique and correct turns.

  • Be able to complete the fitness test of 20mins running on the treadmill at 9.5km/ph without stopping, 20 push ups within 1min and 20 sit ups within 1min.

  • Give their best efforts at all times in training.

  • Show respect to team mates, coaching staff, competition officials, club officials and the training facility.

  • Be a member of and abide by the rules of Barking and Dagenham Aquatics.

  • Be prepared to represent Barking and Dagenham Aquatics at such league and team galas as required.

  • Compete in sufficient open meets as necessary to qualify for championship events.

  • Compete in designated “team” open meets.

  • Achieve at least one licensed time in each of the 18 events each season.

  • Be at least 15 years of age as at 31st December of the current year and physically and technically able to cope with the demands of the programme. (Exceptions may be made to this as athletes physical, technical, emotional and mental development will be judged on a case by case basis with decisions made with the long term development and well being of the athlete being paramount, in these cases the Head Coaches decision shall be final.)

Required Equipment

 

Swimmers who turn up to training sessions without all the necessary equipment will not be allowed to participate in the session.
